New ALAGA KA Barangay Health Station in San Jose, Tuy, Batangas completed
Lack of available, accessible, and quality basic healthcare services contributes to poor health outcomes among low-income and marginalized communities.
In the Philippines, this issue becomes more evident due to the glaring gap between the number of Barangays and active health centers that are supposed to provide primary health care and wellness support to its residents.
But for more than 4,000 residents of Brgy. San Jose, Tuy, Batangas, and nearby areas, this gap will soon be closed.
The San Jose Barangay Health Station (BHS) is about to open its doors as a center for basic healthcare through the help of Health Futures Foundation, Inc. (HFI) under its flagship program, ALAGA KA (Alay sa Ginhawa at Kalusugan).
The community will soon have access to the newly constructed health center and its free and quality basic health care services. Approaching its soft opening, the San Jose BHS is already expecting the arrival of its medical equipment to be used for its operations.
To further empower communities, HFI partnered with Sun Life Foundation to provide free training for community health workers and establish community-based health and wellness programs that help ensure quality and holistic response to people’s health care needs.
With these interventions, the project is expected to benefit 25,000 individuals, mostly from the far-flung barangays and marginalized communities.
