HFI empowers endoscopy nurses through Continuing Professional Development (CPD) webinars.
“Endoscopy is a medical procedure in which a doctor uses specialized instruments to view and operate the internal organs and vessels of a patient’s body without making large incisions”.1 Endoscopy nurses provide care for endoscopy patients, answering their questions and addressing their concerns, observing their vital signs, and administering necessary medication.
From June 2021 to April 2022, Health Futures Foundation Inc. (HFI) in collaboration with Takeda HealthCare Philippines, Inc. provided free endoscopy nursing updates via webinars with CPD units and it has achieved some impressive results.
A total of 12 webinars were conducted, covering topics such as gut health, nursing care of endoscopy patients on moderate sedation, and breakthroughs in the nursing management of colorectal cancer patients.
These webinars received a total of 5,683 attendees. A total of 19.50 CPD units from the Philippine Regulation Commission (PRC) was given to the webinars.
This project has helped to enable nurses to continually update and renew their knowledge and skills, enhancing evidence-based practice and ultimately ensuring they can meet patient needs and service delivery in a constantly changing practice environment.
By investing in the CPD of endoscopy nurses, patients can be ensured to receive the highest quality of care possible and that nurses are empowered to continually grow and develop in their profession.
