“Trees of Wellness is not your basic tree planting project." - Dr Jaime Z. Galvez Tan, HFI Chairman.

HFI’s Trees of Wellness project is set to roll out in four more municipalities in Region 8 this March to April 2017 after the successful tree planting activities in Balete, Batangas and Quinapondan, Eastern Samar last December 2016 and February 2017 respectively.

Trees of Wellness is a community-based program for the conservation, preservation, and sustainable utilization of native medicinal plants and trees.

The project aims to plant native medicinal, flowering, and fruit-bearing trees that will be a source of wellbeing, healing, nutrients, alternative income, and protection against climate change for marginalized communities in the Philippines.

“Trees of Wellness is not your basic tree planting project. It is about community-building, empowerment, and ensuring that marginalized communities have access to safe, healthy, and nutritious food and medicine right within their own backyards”, says Dr. Jaime Galvez Tan, HFI Chairman.

ALAGA KA communities in the municipalities of Motiong, Marabut, Salcedo, and Guiuan will receive about 200 medicinal plants and trees each, along with continuous workshops on plant propagation, cultivation, and sustainable utilization.
