The three (3) barangay health stations are located in Balud, Burak, and Cantomoja, Eastern Samar.
HFI turned over three (3) barangay health stations (BHS) in Salcedo, Eastern Samar last 27 August 2019. The three (3) recipients are the barangays of Balud. Burak, and Cantomoja. The construction of the three BHS is part of the project, “ALAGA KA Barangay Health Post Construction and Establishment of a Community-Based Health and Wellness Program”, and is funded by Direct Relief.
Burak BHS was the first to be inaugurated. The Turnover Ceremonies started with an invocation and singing of the Philippine National Anthem. Burak Barangay Chairman Eduardo Felicen then welcomed the guests from the BLGU, LGU, officials and staff, HFI, and community. HFI Chairman Dr. Jaime Galvez Tan followed by giving his inspirational message. After this, Salcedo Municipal Mayor Melchor Mergal delivered his acceptance message.
Dr. Galvez Tan, Chairman Felicen, and Mayor Mergal led the signing of the Deed of Donation. Dr. Galvez Tan then turned over the ceremonial key to Chairman Felicen and Mayor Mergal. After these, the BHS was viewed by the attendees.
A ceremonial tree planting was also held as launching activity for HFI’s Trees of Wellness project.
The second to be turned over was the Cantomoja BHS. It has the same ceremony program with Burak BHS but with the addition of an intermission from young children of Cantomoja. A tree planting activity was also held in the last part to launch the HFI Trees of Wellness project.
Balud BHS was the last to be inaugurated last 27 August 2019. Its ceremony started at around 6:00 pm. Since it is dark already, the ceremony was held inside the BHS. The program started with the signing of the Deed of Donation, turnover of ceremonial key, and cutting of the ribbon. Balud Chairman Estela Claro, Dr. Jaime Galvez Tan, and Mayor Melchor Mergal gave the messages inside the BHS. As ending, fruit-bearing trees were also planting in the backyard of the BHS as part of the launching of HFI’s Trees of Wellness project.
